Actor and live entertainer Dinesh Soni has carved a versatile career across television, films, commercials and live events. He is also the producer of the film Heer Sara and has been actively working as a producer alongside his acting career. Known for his performances in shows such as Balika Vadhu, Piya Basanti Re and 26/12, Dinesh has also showcased his flair for comedy through projects like Comedy Ka Badshah, which he won, Just Laugh Baaki Maaf and Darz Kiya Hai. His film credits include a special cameo in Meri Pyaari Bindu, while he has also been associated with projects such as Laxman Rekha and Goggles of Rajesh Khanna.
Speaking about his family and his childhood memories, Dinesh shared, “I have an elder sister of my own, but I also share a very special bond with all my cousins. Growing up, we were always surrounded by family. We lived together in a small space with our parents, uncle and aunt, grandparents, and all our siblings.”
The actor fondly recalled a childhood that may have been simple but was filled with togetherness and memorable moments. “Those days may have been simple, but they gave us some of the most beautiful memories and brought us incredibly close to one another,” he said.
While the family once lived together, life has now taken the siblings and cousins to different corners of the world. Dinesh revealed, “Today, life has taken all of us to different parts of the world. Some of us are in Kolkata, Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, Dubai, and even the Netherlands. We may be scattered across different cities and countries, but the distance has never really affected the bond we share.”
Despite being separated by thousands of kilometres, the family makes it a point to stay connected and celebrate special occasions together virtually. “We make sure that at regular intervals and on every special occasion, we come together over Zoom calls to greet one another, catch up, laugh, and cherish our beautiful bond of brotherhood and sisterhood,” Dinesh shared.
For him, these virtual gatherings are more than just conversations—they are a way of keeping their shared childhood memories alive. “No matter how busy life gets, those moments remind us of the childhood we shared and the connection that still remains just as strong,” he added.
Dinesh also recalled a heartwarming observation made by his In-Laws during his marriage, which perfectly captured the closeness shared by the entire family. “In fact, the bond between all of us is so close that at the time of my marriage, my In-Laws would often say, ‘Aap logon mein toh pata hi nahi chalta kaun kiska asli bhai-behen hai!’”
Explaining the sentiment behind the statement, Dinesh said, “They meant that the love and closeness we share make it impossible to tell who are real siblings and who are cousins—and I think that is the most beautiful thing about our family.”
He concluded with a line that perfectly sums up the way his family views their relationships: “Whenever someone asks us how many brothers and sisters we are, we never say that we have one real brother and one real sister. We always say that there are three brothers and five sisters. We never use the word ‘cousins.’ For us, we are simply brothers and sisters.”
