Mystery thrillers have always held a special place in the hearts of cinema lovers worldwide. Often inspired by deeply moving real-life incidents, such films keep audiences intrigued with their layers of suspense and unanswered questions. Marathi cinema, too, boasts a rich legacy of gripping mystery dramas, and Drushya-Adrushya promises to be a significant addition to that tradition.

After receiving appreciation at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Drushya-Adrushya is all set to hit theatres across Maharashtra on June 19. Produced by the makers of acclaimed films such as Subhedar, Sher Shivraj, and Sapla, the film’s gripping trailer was recently launched, offering a glimpse into its intriguing world of secrets and suspense.

Produced under the banner of RST Canvas by Pradyot Pendharkar, Anil Varkhade, Dattaji Thorat, Dhananjay Thorat, Prithviraj Khedkar, Yuvraj Khedkar, and Ashwini Khedkar, Drushya-Adrushya is directed by Milind Lele, known for successful films like Kurukshetra, Bandishala, and AB Aani CD. Lele has also written the story and screenplay, while the dialogues are penned by Asmita Kulkarni.

The trailer opens with Rohit learning that he is about to receive an incentive of ₹25 lakh. However, the reason behind this reward remains a mystery even to his wife, Tanvi. Soon after, their young daughter Isha goes missing, triggering a frantic search and a police investigation. The mystery deepens when hotel staff claim that Tanvi had arrived at the hotel alone. With CCTV cameras mysteriously out of order and conflicting statements from various individuals, the search for Isha turns into a complex puzzle.

As the investigation unfolds, Rohit’s dead body is discovered, making the situation even more perplexing. Did the events described by Tanvi actually take place? Who is telling the truth and who is lying? Is someone manipulating the situation? Was Isha really kidnapped, or did she never exist in the first place? Who murdered Rohit? These questions form the crux of the narrative.

The film explores the fine line between illusion and reality, challenging viewers to question whether everything they see can be trusted. The trailer’s intriguing tagline — “Is what we see always the truth? The unseen truth behind the visible…” — further heightens the suspense.

Popular actress Pooja Sawant, who has made her mark in both Marathi and Hindi cinema, plays the lead role of Tanvi. Her expressions and emotional intensity in the trailer hint at a performance unlike any she has delivered before. The film also stars Ashok Samarth, Suvrat Joshi, Hardik Joshi, Akshaya Gurav, Vidyadhar Joshi, and Keya Ingle in pivotal roles.

The cinematography is handled by Amol Salunke, while Sachin Wagh serves as the editor. Makeup is by Mahesh Barate and costumes are designed by Kirti Jangam-Joshi. The film’s songs, written by Valay Mulgund and composed by Ashish Mujumdar and Devdatta Baji, are sung by Priyanka Barve and Nidhi Hegde. Choreography is by Deepak Debnath, while Nitin Borkar has taken charge of the art direction.

Blending suspense, emotion, and psychological intrigue, Drushya-Adrushya promises to be an edge-of-the-seat thriller when it arrives in cinemas on June 19.
