Television actors Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya and Vivek Dahiya have stepped into a new chapter of their lives after welcoming twin boys in May 2026. While parenthood has brought them immense joy, the couple is also navigating the changes that come with raising their newborns and adjusting to their evolving responsibilities as parents.
During a recent conversation with Gauahar Khan on her postpartum health podcast, The Fourth Trimester, Divyanka spoke about her experience of motherhood, the challenges of returning to work after childbirth and the importance of having a supportive partner during this phase. The actress also opened up about how Vivek is learning to understand her changing emotional needs as she adapts to life after delivery.
Talking about her husband’s journey as a new father and the adjustments he has had to make, Divyanka said, “Even he is learning how to be a parent and how to navigate life with a woman who has also become a mother. Dealing with a mother who is hormonal is not easy. Thankfully, from everything I had been reading, I learnt one thing: after delivery, all the decisions tend to revolve around the babies. Even the advice you receive is centred around them, and sometimes the mother herself doesn’t get enough support”.
Divyanka further explained that she had communicated her expectations to Vivek right at the beginning, particularly when it came to taking care of their children. She acknowledged that adjusting to motherhood can be emotionally demanding and that there could be moments when she might not have the energy to explain every little decision. She wanted Vivek to understand her perspective during such times instead of expecting her to justify everything.
Speaking about the same, she shared, “So, right at the beginning, I told Vivek that there would be times when I might ask him to do something, and I wouldn’t want him to ask too many questions about why it needed to be done a certain way with the babies. At that point, I might not have the bandwidth to deal with that conversation. If he felt I was resisting a little, I told him to just let it be. As the kids grow, he is learning alongside me how to care for them. It’s about caretaking, and he is learning how to take care of the kids too.’’
The actress also spoke about her decision to resume professional commitments after becoming a mother. Divyanka admitted that she does not believe there is one correct way to approach such a decision, as every woman’s circumstances and support systems are different. She revealed that she accepted an opportunity because the work required her to be on set only one day a week and would continue for several months.
She credited her family for giving her the confidence to make the decision, adding that Vivek assured her of his support. She also appreciated the production team’s understanding and cooperation, which helped her manage her professional commitments alongside her new responsibilities at home.
Through her candid conversation, Divyanka highlighted how the postpartum phase involves more than caring for a newborn. It also requires partners to understand the mother’s emotional and physical changes, communicate openly and share parenting responsibilities while learning together.
