The latest episode of Bigg Boss 20 saw a conversation around language, cultural references and the way certain words can be perceived differently depending on the context. A seemingly casual exchange between Mahhi Vij and Amrapali Dubey eventually left the latter uncomfortable, with the Bhojpuri actress expressing concerns over repeated references to the word “Bhabhi.”

The matter came up after an interaction involving Qazi Touqeer. While Amrapali was getting changed, she indirectly indicated that Qazi should step away from the area. Mahhi noticed this and explained to Qazi that Amrapali wanted some privacy. Once Qazi left, Mahhi made a comment about the situation and said, “Jata nahi yaha se, uske man tha dekhne ka. Keh raha, ‘Maine dekhna hai Bhabhi ko saree pehnte hue.’”

The remark did not go unnoticed and later became a subject of conversation inside the house. Amrapali subsequently spoke to Mahhi about it and explained why she felt the comment could be misunderstood, particularly by people who closely associate the word “Bhabhi” with Bhojpuri culture.

During their conversation, Amrapali said, “Yaar Mahhi ji, Bhojpuri culture mein bhabhi ji wala mazaak… woh log offence na lein bas.” Mahhi, however, maintained that she had no disrespectful intention behind using the term and responded, “Mujhe pata hai bhabhi maa samaan hoti hai.”

The two contestants eventually decided to clarify the matter publicly and addressed the cameras together. Mahhi explained, “Guys, maine bhabhi Bhojpuri ke usme nahi bola. Main sirf masti kar rahi thi.” Amrapali also acknowledged the sentiment and said, “We love our Bhabhis and Bhaujis. We genuinely love you.”

Amrapali further explained that “Bhabhi” is considered a respectful term within the Bhojpuri industry. Mahhi continued to explain her perspective, pointing out that references to the term can also be found in Bhojpuri songs. The actresses eventually made it clear that the exchange was not directed towards any particular person or section of the industry. Amrapali reiterated that they “did not target anyone” and that there was no intention to hurt anyone’s sentiments.

Despite clearing the air with Mahhi, Amrapali appeared to remain somewhat displeased with the situation. She later discussed the matter with Love Gill, where she questioned Mahhi’s choice of words and said, “‘Mujhe Mahhi bol rahi bhabhi bhabhi..main bolu aap tv pe maa ka role karti ho?’

Love then asked, “Is she playing moms’ roles? “Mujhe kya pata..main nahi dekhti inke serials,” said Amrapali.

The exchange has since become one of the talking points from the latest episode, with the conversation highlighting how even a casual joke inside the Bigg Boss house can quickly turn into a discussion when it involves cultural references and terms of respect.
