Bigg Boss 20 contestant Rhiti Tiwari has opened up about her relationship with her father and Bhojpuri actor-politician Manoj Tiwari, revealing that he had made it clear from the very beginning that he would not financially support her career. The 25-year-old spoke about her childhood, her parents’ divorce and the journey of getting to know her father better while interacting with her fellow contestants inside the Bigg Boss house.
Rhiti revealed that she was very young when her parents separated. According to her, it was only around the age of 18 or 19 that she consciously decided to understand her father better and began spending more time with him. While she acknowledges the advantages that come with being Manoj Tiwari’s daughter, Rhiti said that she has not inherited his wealth or financial resources.
“Unki Jo cheeze hai kamai hui dhan daulat naam aur izzat, wo sab mere tehet nahi aaya. Mere tehet aaya unka naam. Jaha main jaati hoon respect de dete hai, Manoj Tiwari ki beti hoon main respect carry karti hoon.”
Rhiti further explained that her father was very straightforward with her about her professional journey. She said that he never promised to fund her ambitions and instead wanted her to build her career on her own abilities. According to Rhiti, this was not something she interpreted negatively, but rather as his way of making her independent.
“‘Aur unhone ek aur cheez Bahut clearly bol di k wo meri koi help nahi kar ne wale mere career mein. Nothing in a bad way. Unhone mujse Kaha k tum mein agar hoga toh tum khud se kar logi. Main tumhe kar k nahi dunga.’”
The Bigg Boss 20 contestant went on to reveal that she did not have unlimited access to money despite being the daughter of a well known personality. She said that she received an allowance and had to carefully manage her expenses, even when she wanted to learn new skills or pursue opportunities outside.
“Itne paise nai thhe k bahar jaa k sikh pau Kyunki papa kuch bhi nahi dete thhe. Main jo maangu woh nahi mil jata hai muje. Ek monthly allowance jitna. Pakad le 20-25 hazar rupay. Aur Tuje lagta hai 20-25k mei kisi ka mahina nikal sakta hai? Main kabhi kabhi 10 rs ka wada pao kha leti hoon din mein do bar. Taki pet bhar jaye. 500 rupees ka diesel Bharwati hoon. Bas kitni jarurat utne ke liye.”
Rhiti also addressed the perception that she has grown up with every possible privilege because of her father’s name. She admitted that while the surname has brought her recognition and respect, her personal experiences have been very different from what people may assume.
“Sabko Aisa lagta hai ke I come with a very big silver spoon in my mouth. But nahi, I am just a layman. Toh, it is tough.”
Her revelations give an insight into Rhiti’s perspective on growing up as the daughter of a popular public figure while attempting to establish an identity and career of her own. Her comments also highlight the difference between having a famous surname and actually having access to the financial privileges that people may associate with it.
