Steven Spielberg is not just a name; he is an emotion for many movie buffs. It’s been a long time since Spielberg delivered something truly outstanding and of classic caliber, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that he is among the greatest directors in Hollywood. Whenever his name pops up, there’s always a smile on the faces of cinema lovers.

Steven Spielberg’s new offering, Disclosure Day, is finally out, and it’s a decent film that deserves a one-time watch. Disclosure Day brings back the nostalgia of his 1982 classic, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. It seems Spielberg definitely has a soft corner for aliens, and he applies a similar formula here. There are humans who harm aliens and humans who try to protect them, this is the biggest similarity between E.T. and Disclosure Day.

June 12 should officially be declared ‘Disclosure Day,’ as Steven Spielberg has delivered something that his fans can cheer for, at least for a certain period of time, if not for long.

Performance-wise, Emily Blunt leads the show and does what she does best. Her performance is magical. Josh O’Connor provides great support to the acting unit. Colin Firth is quite impressive in his role and makes you genuinely hate his character. Eve Hewson’s transformation is praiseworthy. Colman Domingo looks natural and delivers an honest performance. The supporting cast also does a good job.

The cinematography, framing, camerawork, and other technical aspects look impressive on screen, and that’s exactly what we spend our money on when it comes to Hollywood films. There are no high-octane action sequences, as this is a highly dramatic sci-fi film which has emotions.

The biggest difference between Hollywood and Bollywood is that, in Bollywood, people tend to give more importance to actors than directors, whereas in Hollywood, it’s often the other way around. Therefore, Disclosure Day is, from start to finish, a Steven Spielberg show.

Disclosure Day takes quite a bit of time to build its story, which is why the first half feels somewhat cold. However, as the narrative progresses, it ends on a satisfactory note, albeit a predictable one.

Going by the trailer, Disclosure Day may seem a little disappointing because the trailer promises something quite different from what the final product delivers. However, if you’re watching it without any preconceived expectations, get ready for a few surprises. Steven Spielberg returning with a sci-fi film that carries nostalgic elements of E.T., is enough to grab your attention.
