Stunt coordinator and former reality show contestant Geeta Tandon recently shared an unpleasant experience from the sets of Anil Kapoor’s quiz show India Ke Top 1%. The stunt professional took to social media to speak about the treatment she allegedly received from the show’s production team after being invited to appear on an upcoming episode along with her son.
According to Geeta, she had agreed to be a part of the show without charging any fee, expecting it to be a professional and pleasant experience. However, what followed reportedly left her disappointed. In a detailed post comprising eight slides, she explained how she and her son were made to wait for several hours without receiving any concrete information about when their shoot would take place.
Geeta revealed that they reached the sets at around 12:30 pm and were initially told that their segment would be filmed within a few hours. However, the wait continued for almost nine hours, with the two allegedly being made to sit inside a tent without any proper communication from the team. She also mentioned that she had sacrificed an entire day’s work for the commitment and had specifically called her son back from Goa to attend the shoot.
Sharing her frustration, Geeta wrote, “I gave up a day’s work and even called my son back from Goa specifically for the shoot.”
She further alleged that when she approached the production team to understand the reason behind the delay, the response from the production manager, Jaydeep, was particularly upsetting. Recalling the interaction, she claimed that he told her, “If they want to leave, let them leave. But they can’t leave without signing.”
Geeta questioned why she and her son were being prevented from leaving without signing a document, especially after having already spent several hours waiting. She eventually decided to walk out of the sets at approximately 9:15 pm.
Expressing her disappointment, she wrote, “I did not come there asking for a favour. Your team invited me. Your team repeatedly followed up with me. I gave you my time, my professional commitments and my son’s time, without asking for a single rupee. The least I expected was basic human dignity.”
Geeta also tagged the show’s production house, host Anil Kapoor and special guest Farah Khan while bringing the incident to their attention. However, she clarified that her intention was not to hold the actor or filmmaker personally responsible for the alleged behaviour of the production team.
Emphasising that respect should not depend on an individual’s popularity or position in the industry, she added, “Being a celebrity should not determine how much respect someone deserves. The person standing behind the camera deserves the same dignity as the person standing in front of it.”
Farah Khan and Anil Kapoor respond to Geeta Tandon’s allegations
The post soon caught the attention of Farah Khan, who responded to Geeta and apologised for the experience. Explaining that she was unaware of the situation as she was occupied with the shoot of the second episode, Farah wrote, “Geetaji apologies.. I had no idea you were there as I was shooting for the 2nd episode in the evening.. otherwise would have made you sit in my van. As would Anil if he knew.. we have tremendous respect for you and your hard work.”
Anil Kapoor also acknowledged Geeta’s post and expressed regret over the incident. The actor stated that he was saddened to learn about the experience she and her son had on the sets, adding that he had always wanted everyone associated with the show to feel comfortable and respected.
Responding to her concerns, Anil wrote, “Geeta ji, it genuinely saddens me to hear this. As the host, I always wanted everyone who was part of the show to feel welcome and respected. You and your son came as our guests. I’m sorry that your experience left you feeling otherwise.”
The actor further acknowledged the importance of her feedback and reiterated that every individual working in the entertainment industry deserves respect. Geeta subsequently thanked him for addressing her concerns and expressed hope that such an experience would not be repeated with anyone else.
