Rohit Chandel’s family has finally reacted to his arrest in connection with the ongoing POCSO case. While the matter is currently before the court, Rohit’s family has maintained that he is innocent and has expressed confidence in the judicial process. His family has also raised concerns over alleged discrepancies in the official records related to the case.
Breaking his silence on the matter, Rohit’s brother Mohit Chandel shared a detailed note on social media, describing the situation as an extremely difficult period for their family. He wrote, “This has been a deeply painful and challenging time for our family. Facing serious false allegations has taken an immense emotional toll on all of us. As a family, we stand firmly beside Rohit, with complete faith in his innocence, integrity and character, and with unwavering faith in the Judiciary of India. Since the matter is presently sub judice, we are constrained from discussing the specific facts or merits of the case.”
Mohit further alleged that there were discrepancies in the documents prepared by the investigating authorities and claimed that these inaccuracies had affected Rohit. He wrote, “However, it is deeply distressing to witness how serious discrepancies, documentation errors and apparent typographical inaccuracies in the records prepared by the investigating authorities have prejudicially impacted Rohit. Among other errors, an unmarried person has been recorded as married. The chargesheet further reflects Rohit Chandel, who is Hindu, as Muslim, and describes a professional actor as a businessman.”
He also spoke about the impact the case has had on Rohit’s professional and personal life. Mohit wrote, “These are not insignificant details when official records are relied upon in proceedings affecting an individual’s liberty, reputation and future. We firmly believe that an individual’s liberty and reputation should never become collateral damage to procedural negligence or inaccuracies in official documentation. Rohit has built his career and professional reputation over many years through hard work, dedication and perseverance.”
Concluding the statement, Mohit reiterated the family’s faith in the judiciary and said that further communication would be handled through Rohit’s legal counsel. He wrote, “At the same time, we continue to repose our complete faith and confidence in the Indian Judicial system and remain hopeful that the Hon’ble Court will take due note of and address all procedural lapses and discrepancies at the appropriate stage and in accordance with law. Any official updates regarding the proceedings will continue to be communicated strictly through Rohit’s Advocate and only to the extent permitted by law, keeping in mind that the matter remains pending before the Hon’ble Court.”
