Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam starrer OMG 2 is all set to release this week.
We had a chance to do an exclusive interview with Yami Gautam for OMG 2.
Yami Gautam plays the role of a lawyer for the 2nd time in her career after Batti Gul Meter Chalu (2018). While speaking to us she spoke about how her character in OMG 2 is different from that of BGMC. She also said that OMG 2 gives a very important message and would have also been relevant if it would have been made in 2026.
Q] You had played the role of a lawyer in your career before, so is this role something different and what was your preparation for this role?
Ans – I played the role of a lawyer in the film Batti Gul Meter Chalu. The writer-director of our film Amit Rai had not watched BGMC (Batti Gul Meter Chalu), but he knew I have played this type of role in my career. After I came on board, he specially saw that film. And he said to me that after this film (OMG 2), I don’t think anyone will refer to or compare your role with BGMC. This is a completely different character. I have already seen this film and I can tell you that it’s completely different from what I have done before. And I even find it funny to say this, because when I hear interviews of different actors they all say the same thing each and every time. As an actor, you should see yourself when you think that yes this is really different, then that is the real challenge for me. How can I portray the role of a lawyer differently from my previous role? Your speech, your voice modulation, your diction, your pauses, everything, I think she has a little sass. She is bold, she is resilient, she is poise and I give the credit to the writer and director for this. So this is a challenge and fun. What different can you do from the one which you have done previously.
Q] As you said that you had watched the film, so as an audience how much did you enjoy it and what rating did you give to the film?
Ans – I did not give a rating, it gives me a school type feeling. I did not rate it in numbers, but I evaluated the film and I always do. I feel that honesty is very important with keeping in mind that I myself am the part of this film. It’s obviously very human, that you will be partial that it’s your own film, but I am not. I am very honest with my film, with my work and I honestly enjoyed watching the film. I felt that the film is entertaining and there is a very important message in it. I started my career with a film like Vicky Donor, 10 years back. And I feel that OMG 2 is a kind of film which will also be relevant even in 2026. The way this film gives you the message is different and it is very important that the target audience watches this film.
Just like its prequel, OMG 2 is also a courtroom drama which deals with an important subject.
OMG 2 is all set to release on 11th August in the cinemas.
