Actor and poet Priya Malik has spoken openly about her personal life, including her divorce, motherhood and finding love again.
Priya revealed that she did not talk about her divorce while it was happening. “I did not want anyone to stop me or ask me to adjust,” she says. According to her, divorce is seen negatively in society, but for her it was one of the best decisions of her life.
She clarified that there was no bitterness. “My ex-husband is a good person. We were just not right for each other,” she says. While he wanted to stay abroad, Priya wished to return to India.
Living in Australia made her realise how deeply Indian she is. “I missed my language, food, noise, people and simple dal-chawal,” she shares. She says she can never live abroad again.
Priya also spoke about facing online comments and rumours, especially related to weight gain and pregnancy. “People used to comment on my body without knowing anything,” she says.
Her life changed after meeting her husband Karan. “He brought back the old Priya,” she says. She credits him for bringing peace, stability and happiness into her life.
Becoming a mother has further changed her outlook. “Motherhood makes you softer and more patient,” she says. She believes some things in life should be kept private and protected.
Today, Priya continues to balance poetry, selective acting work and motherhood. “No matter where life takes me, I am still that girl from Dehradun trying to find herself,” she says.
