Celebrity makeup and hairstylist Florian Hurel has come a long way. After working with superstars in the industry on various films and ad campaigns, he launched his own salon, Florian Hurel Hair Couture & Spa, in Mumbai. This highly sophisticated salon recently celebrated its first year in business. Sharing his joy and excitement, Florian says, “If I can describe this emotion, I would say – a year of emotions and hard work. Creating a brand isn’t as easy as it looks. Luckily, I had the experience of running a franchised international brand salon by myself since I was 21. So here, it’s a year of applying all my experience into action with a great team, which made things easier.”
He also adds, “I was meant to do business. I like managing people and seeing them succeed in their own journeys. When you’re in the beauty and aesthetics industry, it’s extremely tough. From using the right kind of products to ensuring our clients are happy when they leave our salon – every aspect of the customer journey has been a focus.”
After South Mumbai, the second branch will soon open in the queen of suburbs – Bandra. Talking about that, Florian says, “Bandra will be unique and different from Walkeshwar. This place has a vibe oriented toward art and cinema. I hope to make this location successful and comfortable for my clients.”
When asked about the challenges he faces as an entrepreneur, Florian says, “I’m facing a few challenges, but these are meant to be crossed and overcome. One for sure is having your employees believe that they, too, can achieve success. Right now, the focus is on building a strong foundation so we can grow stronger and expand.”
Florian, originally from France and having moved to India a few years ago, sees India as the future. He says, “We have another 20 to 30 years of growth ahead. I see India as the future.”
