Television actor Rohit Chandel may soon be heading home after spending close to two months in custody in connection with a POCSO case. A fresh update in the matter suggests that the actor has secured bail in the case registered at Ghatkopar Police Station.

As per a report by ABP News, Rohit is expected to be released from jail on September 11, provided the remaining legal formalities and paperwork are completed on time. The bail order comes after the actor’s earlier attempts to secure relief were unsuccessful.

Rohit’s first bail application was reportedly turned down after the court took note of several inconsistencies in the records related to the case. The documents allegedly contained incorrect details about his personal information, including his profession and religion. His occupation was mentioned as “businessman” rather than actor, while his religion was also reportedly entered incorrectly in the chargesheet.

There was another discrepancy in the medical records concerning Rohit’s marital status. His examination report allegedly described him as “married”, although the actor has maintained that he is unmarried. The issue was reportedly brought to the court’s attention during the proceedings.

Rohit’s lawyer argued that mistakes in official documents should not be used against the actor while considering his bail plea. However, his subsequent application was also rejected on July 22. This came after the minor complainant appeared before a judicial magistrate and recorded her statement.

With the latest bail order now reportedly in place, Rohit could be released from custody once the required documentation is completed.
