Zee, one of India’s most iconic and widely cherished media brands, reaching over 854 million viewers across 208 million households, has stepped into a bold new era. This evolution is marked by the introduction of its refreshed brand identity and the compelling promise, “Yours Truly, Z.” Strengthening this transition, the network introduced an innovative industry-facing initiative, ‘Z’ Whats Next, to unveil its transformation into a modern content-tech powerhouse.
Z’ Whats Next stands as a first-of-its-kind initiative where Zee brought its industry partners into its vision for the future. With a front-row seat to its creative and tech-driven advancements, the initiative spotlighted how Zee is reimagining storytelling, one that flows seamlessly across platforms, devices, and audience hearts. Grounded equally in culture and creativity, this move signaled a significant step forward, positioning Zee as a designer of change rather than a responder to it.
The event highlighted how, despite rapid shifts in content consumption, television remains India’s most powerful storytelling medium. Zee reaffirmed its ongoing adaptation to platform-fluid audiences, creating content that travels effortlessly from television to OTT to social media, with stories and characters that transcend formats. In line with this approach, Zee unveiled two new hybrid channels: Zee Power and Zee BanglaSonar.
With a strong portfolio of 50 channels in 11 languages, Zee has long been the entertainment choice for Bharat. Its content, deeply rooted in local realities and subcultures, speaks to a confident and expressive India. The network continues to craft stories led by compelling characters—real-world “Dilfluencers” who shape conversations, emotions, and behavior.
Speaking about this new chapter, Kartik Mahadev, Chief Marketing Officer at ZEEL, emphasized that with ‘Z’ Whats Next, Zee is reshaping entertainment by combining culture, creativity, and technology. The launch of Zee Power and Zee BanglaSonar underscores Zee’s faith in regional markets and its intent to deliver future-ready content reflecting India’s pulse.
Zee Power, a next-gen Kannada hybrid channel, targets semi-urban youth audiences in Karnataka. Offering gritty, aspirational storytelling, the channel is set to launch in August 2025 with a multimedia campaign across the state. Programming will include five fiction shows, one daily non-fiction show, and movie showcases.Siju Prabhakaran, Chief Cluster Officer, South and West, ZEEL, explained that Zee Power fills a clear “white space” for high-intensity, progressive narratives that differ from Zee Kannada’s family-oriented approach.
Meanwhile, Zee BanglaSonar is a pioneering hybrid channel for Bengali audiences nationwide. Blending fiction, non-fiction, films, and new formats, it’s built for modern viewers with a deep connection to cultural roots. Also set for an August 2025 launch, it will be supported by a comprehensive campaign across Bengal.
Samrat Ghosh, Chief Cluster Officer, East, North & Premium Cluster, ZEEL, described Zee BanglaSonar as a strategic complement to Zee Bangla. The channel aims to tap into West Bengal’s growing TV market and offer a differentiated, male-inclusive content slate rooted in tradition and relatability.
As Zee continues to embrace India’s evolving stories and screens, it remains committed to being a dynamic force in entertainment, driven by creativity, innovation, and a bold vision for the future.
