Rahul Raj Singh, the former boyfriend of the late television actress Pratyusha Banerjee, has once again spoken out ahead of a critical court hearing in his defamation case against Kamya Punjabi and producer Neeru Shah. In a recent interview, Rahul accused Kamya and Neeru of intentionally missing court dates despite multiple appearances set by the judge. He expressed frustration over their ongoing absence from the case for the past three months. According to Rahul, both Kamya and Neeru have been avoiding responsibility while he has been “fighting a lone battle for the last eight years,” facing public criticism and accusations without any solid evidence against him.
The defamation case arises from statements made by Kamya Punjabi and Neeru Shah, who connected Rahul Raj Singh to Pratyusha Banerjee’s tragic death in April 2016. Rahul claims that Kamya and Neeru exploited Pratyusha’s story for publicity, even creating a short film inspired by her death. In response to these allegations, Rahul filed defamation suits of ₹1 crore each against not only Kamya and Neeru but also against platforms like Google and YouTube for allegedly spreading these claims. He has openly challenged both women to appear in court and provide evidence for their statements, warning that failing to do so could lead to serious legal consequences, including potential jail time for defamation.
Rahul emphasized that despite years of accusations, no evidence has ever connected him to Pratyusha’s death. He highlighted the emotional strain this lengthy legal fight has caused him, particularly as public opinion has been shaped more by media stories than by facts presented in court. The controversy surrounding Pratyusha Banerjee’s death has persisted since April 1, 2016, when the Balika Vadhu actress was found dead in her Mumbai home at the age of 24. While her death was officially ruled a suicide, it has ignited ongoing disputes and legal actions, with Rahul maintaining his innocence throughout.
With the next court hearing set for July 18, Rahul is determined to clear his name. He insists that if Kamya Punjabi and Neeru Shah cannot provide evidence in court, they should be held responsible for the damage done to his reputation and life. This upcoming hearing could be a pivotal moment in this drawn-out case, as the court aims to distinguish between fact and speculation in a situation that continues to draw public interest.
