In an exclusive interview with Film Window, TV’s golden couple Rubina Dilaik and Abhinav Shukla open up like never before spilling the beans on their journey into parenthood, the real deal behind who wears the pants in their relationship, and why their love story continues to challenge societal norms.
Currently seen lighting up screens on the hit game show Pati Patni Aur Panga, the couple has embraced a whole new chapter raising their twin daughters. Rubina, glowing with new-mom energy and confidence, didn’t hold back her admiration for her husband. “Abhinav has been incredibly generous in helping me return to work. He willingly took a step back to raise our daughters, and I’ll forever be grateful.”
A man putting his career on pause to focus on parenting? In India, that’s still raising eyebrows. But Rubina is unfazed. “People call me dominating, but Abhinav and I know our equation. We love and respect each other, and that’s what matters. In one heartwarming revelation, Rubina shared how Abhinav turns his travels into tokens of love. “Wherever he goes, he brings me back a rock from a mountain he climbed or a local handicraft so I can have a piece of the place too.” As parents, they’ve set their own rules, especially around mindfulness. “We never argue in front of our kids,” Rubina emphasized. “Anyone can provide luxury, but giving children a mindful, nurturing environment is far more valuable.” When asked about future plans, Rubina’s eyes lit up. “I’d love to host a show someday. We’re entertainers, it doesn’t matter if it’s acting, hosting, or reality shows. As long as we’re connecting with audiences, we’re happy.”Their love is rooted in understanding. “He’s the analytical one, I’m the emotional one,” Rubina laughed. “But we’ve learned to embrace each other’s flaws and work through disagreements with maturity.”
