Indira Krishnan, who is currently portraying Durgavati in Sargun Mehta and Ravie Dubey’s latest show Ganga Mai Ki Betiyaan, produced under Dreamiyata Drama, opened up about the essence of her character and the show’s narrative.

She highlighted that the series reflects the journey of women striving to balance life and family. “I love how each woman’s journey unfolds, showing the complexities they navigate. Every woman here has her own way of ensuring her family’s happiness,” she explained.

Speaking about Durgavati, Indira shared, “The name itself symbolizes strength and authority. She is Sidhu’s mother-to-mother figure and understands the dynamics of her family and village deeply. Her presence is commanding, yet she carries dignity and respect in everything she does.”

Indira also emphasized her focus on bringing realism to her role. “I’ve always aimed to portray authenticity on screen, and I feel connected with the audience through this character. Viewers appreciate that, and it keeps me motivated,” she said.

When asked what sets the show apart, she remarked, “Shows impact audiences through their storytelling. Zee TV is trying to present stories that are strong, realistic, and culturally relevant. This show portrays respect, personal rights, and the values that resonate with viewers today.”

She also expressed her admiration for the producers. “This is my first project with them, so I was a little hesitant at first. But once I reached Chandigarh, the environment felt so warm and homely. I’m grateful for the role and the comfort provided to actors—from accommodation to meals,” Indira shared.

Confident about her character’s impact, she added, “I always give my best and try to bring something different to each role. I’m sure audiences will connect with Durgavati as well.”

Ganga Mai Ki Betiyaan airs daily at 9 pm on Zee TV.
