Tulsi Virani Returns: Smriti Irani Stars in the New Promo of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi Reboot
Smriti Irani is making a nostalgic return to television as Tulsi Virani in the newly released promo for the reboot of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. The minute-long video, released on Monday, begins with Irani’s Tulsi sitting quietly with her laptop. She’s soon seen walking around the house, creating rangoli, lighting diyas, and offering prayers, evoking strong memories of the original character.
Speaking in a voiceover, she says, “Sanskaaron ke is chakravyuh mein Tulsi ab bhi apno ke saath khadi hai. Phir aa rahi hai Tulsi aapke aangan mein khilne.” She is also seen talking to ‘Baa’ in the clip, adding to the emotional resonance for long-time fans.Sharing the teaser, Star Plus posted the caption: “Badalte waqt mein ek naye nazariye ke saath laut rahi hai Tulsi! The original Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, produced by Ekta Kapoor, aired from 2000 to 2008 and ran for over 1,800 episodes. It was one of the longest-running Hindi television shows in Indian history and a massive cultural phenomenon. In a statement to PTI, Smriti Irani said, “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is more than just a show; it was a journey that reshaped Indian television and impacted countless lives, including mine. Returning to this character feels like coming home, and I’m honoured to be part of this next chapter.”
The new series is set to premiere on July 29 at 10:30 PM on Star Plus and Disney+ Hotstar, bringing back one of television’s most iconic characters in a fresh narrative for a new generation.
