Portraying a character is not just about acting, it’s about staying true to the essence of the story. In Zee TV’s Jagriti- Ek Nayi Subah, Aarya Babbar, who previously played the menacing Kalikant, now returns as Shashikant, his younger brother. With Kalikant in a coma, Shashikant enters the narrative as a calm and morally upright figure who brings a new energy and hope to the storyline.
This shift has allowed Aarya to dive into two completely different roles, each with its own emotional depth and personality. From the intense and manipulative Kalikant to the grounded and principled Shashikant, he has gone through a remarkable transformation. To embody Shashikant authentically, Aarya even coloured his hair ash blonde to reflect the character’s sincerity and peaceful nature. His dedication is evident in every aspect, from voice modulation to body language, ensuring that each brother feels like a distinct individual.
Aarya shared, “Playing two contrasting characters in the same show has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my acting career. Kalikant was powerful and dark, whereas Shashikant is calm, optimistic, and rooted in values. It’s like discovering two different sides of myself.”
He added, “I consciously worked on changing my voice, posture, and energy to make each character stand out. Even colouring my hair for Shashikant helped me connect with the role on a deeper level. This journey has pushed me as a performer and helped me evolve within the same story world. It’s rare to get such a chance, and I’m grateful for it.”
As Aarya continues this exciting dual journey, the upcoming episodes are set to bring high emotional stakes. Will Shashikant help mend the broken bond between Jagriti (Rachana Mistry) and Suraj (Vijayendra Kumeria), or will Akash (Sagar Parekh) succeed in tearing them apart?
Catch all the drama unfold in Jagriti- Ek Nayi Subah, every day at 11 pm only on Zee TV.
