A year after revealing her stage-3 breast cancer diagnosis, television star Hina Khan has opened up about the silence she now faces from the industry. While her health is improving, she says the work offers have stopped. “No one has called me for the last one year,” she shared.
The 37-year-old, loved for her roles in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2, recently made her return to TV with the Colors reality show Pati Patni Aur Panga alongside her partner Rocky Jaiswal. She admitted the show was physically demanding and sometimes tiring, but she stayed committed as part of her comeback journey.
Hina explained that no one has directly told her they doubt her recovery, but she feels there is hesitation. “Maybe people are hesitant, and they may have their reasons,” she said, while making it clear she is ready to take on work. She added, “I’m open to auditions, please call me,” stressing that she is willing to try different roles but prefers not to commit to very long projects right now.
Her words highlight two harsh realities: cancer can take away more than just health, and in an industry driven by constant visibility, a break, even for medical treatment, can cause actors to be forgotten. Hina’s story also points to the stigma that can follow survivors even after recovery.
This, however, is not a plea, it’s a call to action. She is challenging casting directors, producers, and filmmakers to look beyond her diagnosis and see the talent she has always brought to the screen.
“I was gone for a year, but I’m back,” she said firmly. “Don’t let my name fade, call me.”
