They say language is the gateway to culture, and for young actor Sanchi Bhoyar, it became the key to her first Hindi television lead. Known to Marathi audiences for her performance in Indrayani, Sanchi now steps into the title role of COLORS’ new drama Binddii, set against the vibrant backdrop of Mathura.
The series follows a girl born in prison who grows up surrounded by her mother Kajal’s love and must later face a world she has never known. Because Mathura’s everyday life is steeped in its distinctive dialect, Brijbhasha, mastering the language was an essential part of Sanchi’s preparation. Speaking the local tongue helps ground Binddii’s experiences from attending school to fighting for her mother’s freedom, making the character’s dreams and struggles feel authentic.
“This is my first Hindi television project, so everything is new and thrilling,” Sanchi shared. “To portray Binddii, I had to capture her emotions and also learn Brijbhasha, which is quite different from Marathi and Hindi. Shooting in Mathura helped me absorb the words directly from the locals. Simple phrases like greeting people with ‘Radhe Radhe’ or calling Radhika ma’am who plays my on-screen mother ‘Maiyya’ made me feel immersed in Binddii’s world. Those small details brought the character to life, and I hope viewers will feel that realism.”
Binddii airs every evening at 8:30 p.m. on COLORS, celebrating the unbreakable bond between a daughter’s courage and a mother’s love.
