Rajkumar Hirani is one of the greatest filmmakers which Indian Cinema has ever witnessed. He has made 5 films till date and all of them have turned out to be Classics.
Rajkumar Hirani made his debut as a director with Munna Bhai MBBS. SRK was the first choice for this film but things did not fall in place and Sanjay Dutt got the opportunity to play the lead.
Rajkumar Hirani also narrated the story of 3 Idiots to SRK, but again things did not go as per the plan and Aamir Khan was roped into play the lead.
After 3 Idiots, Rajkumar Hirani made PK with Aamir Khan and Sanju with Ranbir Kapoor. Both the films turned out to be huge blockbusters.
After 20 years, finally SRK and Rajkumar Hirani got an opportunity to work on a film called Dunki.
Dunki is an emotional tearjerker which has a social message in it. The film is based on the immigration theme exploring the subject of Donkey Flight.
Yesterday on the occasion of Shah Rukh Khan’s birthday, the teaser of Dunki was released.
SRK had organized a special event yesterday for his fans. Rajkumar Hirani also joined SRK for the event.
The duo spoke about their collaboration and revealed the reason why it took so long for their collaboration to happen.
Rajkumar Hirani while speaking about the same said, “I saw a young actor performing and delivering a big monologue. I said in my mind who he is. He is not a big actor. I thought that once I pass out from my college I’ll sign him in my film. It took me 2 years to come out from the film institute. By that time SRK became a huge star and there was no chance that he would work with me.”
To this, SRK replied by saying, “The same happened with me, when Raju was narrating the story of Munna Bhai to me. I was like he is a new director and he will definitely work with me. I said we will do it after 6 months, 8 months or maybe 9 months and then he left. Then he came to me for 3 Idiots. I was like, he has not become a big director and I am a huge star. When he made 3 Idiots, I was like that he has become very big and now I won’t take a chance to not work with him. During Covid, I told him that please don’t take any chance this time and make this film with me only. In Fact I did not make him meet any other actors. I am now also not allowing him to put any guest appearances in Dunki. So my story is that we both became very huge that it took time for our collaboration. We have now made a very lovely and small film together which is Dunki.”

Dunki is directed by Rajkumar Hirani. The film is all set to release on 21st December. The film stars Shah Rukh Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal and Boman Irani.
