As the countdown to Bigg Boss 19 begins, reports suggest that the reality show will kick off with a new format and an early digital premiere. According to Telly Chakkar, a special pre-launch episode titled “Agni Pariksha” will be released exclusively on JioCinema on August 23, one day before the official television premiere on Colors TV scheduled for August 24. This episode will not be part of the regular TV broadcast.
Along with this early start, the upcoming season will introduce a significant format shift inside the Bigg Boss house. As reported by India Forums, contestants will be divided into two parties during the premiere episode by host Salman Khan. Each week, both parties will nominate one member from their respective teams to contest for the position of house leader aka captain. The final selection will be made through a ballot vote, and the winning contestant will be given the authority to form the ‘sarkaar’ for the week.
Once appointed, the leader will have the power to assign duties within the house and appoint other contestants as ministers, such as Kitchen Minister or Bedroom Minister. These roles are expected to bring more structure to house responsibilities and encourage team coordination. Additionally, both teams will be given secret tasks, either collectively or individually. Completion of these tasks will help them earn weekly rations and possibly influence the game’s dynamics.
These changes mark a departure from previous seasons and suggest a focus on leadership, delegation, and strategic gameplay. While the core elements of the show remain intact, Bigg Boss 19 appears to be heading in a more structured and theme-driven direction. With Salman Khan returning as host and digital content dropping ahead of television, the show is aiming to engage viewers across platforms right from day one.
Salman Khan, while speaking about the new season’s theme, reportedly said:
- “I’ve been a part of Bigg Boss for a long time, and as we all know, the game keeps evolving every year. This time, the concept of ‘Gharwalon ki Sarkaar’ will bring a whole new dimension to the house. Leadership, teamwork, and politics will all play a big part in deciding who goes ahead and who falls behind.”

He also emphasized that viewers should expect a more strategic and structured game with this party-based system, where housemates will have to work under a leadership model and earn their daily needs through tasks and secret challenges.
Speculation about the Bigg Boss 19 contestant list is gaining momentum, with several names surfacing across media reports. Gurucharan Singh, known for playing Sodhi in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, is widely believed to be one of the first confirmed participants. Other rumored contestants include content creator Apoorva Mukhija, influencer Faisal Shaikh (Mr Faisu), choreographer Dhanashree Verma, actress Meera Deosthale, and TV personality Bhavika Sharma. While nothing is officially confirmed, the list suggests a mix of digital and television personalities this season.
