Rohit Shetty has made his OTT debut with Indian Police Force. Indian Police Force is also a part of Cop Universe but does not have any connection with Singham, Simmba and Sooryavanshi. Rohit Shetty has always made a satisfying masala action entertainer, but he has disappointed a lot with the Indian Police Force. This was not the debut which people would expect from Rohit.

Indian Police Force has the same old story of Police officers tracking down a terrorist who has done bomb blasts in the country. The story is outdated and so is the presentation. The makers have messed up things and presented a 7 episode long boring show.

Rohit Shetty’s cop based films are entertaining and have some repeat values. The events in his films take place at a high speed which keeps the audience engaged and hooked. His cops are presented on a big scale and are strongly written.

Indian Police Force lacks the trademark Rohit Shetty punch. Rohit Shetty has directed this series along with Sushwanth Prakash. The direction is not upto the mark and looks dragged. The placement of scenes is terrible and many scenes don’t seem to be interlinked with each other.

The 3 main lead actors of Indian Police Force are actually nonactors. Sidharth Malhotra is not a good actor and with Indian Police Force his weak acting run continues. He does not look like a police officer and even the uniform doesn’t suit him. He doesn’t try to bring something new to his character and gives the same expression throughout the 7 episode long series. Vivek Oberoi just does overacting in the majority of scenes. He also doesn’t look like a police officer from any angle. At one point it seems like Vivek is the lead actor and not Sidharth, but after the 3rd episode there is a twist. Shilpa Shetty has never left a mark with her performance. In IPF, she looks glamorous but her acting lacks beauty. She perfectly carries the attitude of a police officer but fails to convert that in her acting. Mayyank Taandon plays the role of a villain. The villain should have had a strong personality. Mayyank does good but is not suitable as a villain. He doesn’t look dangerous in a single frame. Vaidehi Parashurami gets a lot of screen presence and has performed well in her part. Nikitin Dheer only stands like a statue and barely acts. Mukesh Rishi looks completely misfit in his character. Sharad Kelkar appears in the last episode and doesn’t look impressive. Isha Talwar and Shweta Tiwari are passable. The remaining cast is below average.

There are action sequences, blast scenes and chase sequences in each and every episode. All these action sequences are not that impressive but can be enjoyed, as the rest of the show is completely dull. Only the action sequences in the whole series are something which does not bore you. The long action sequences in 3rd, 4th and 7th episodes are the major highlights of this series.

The VFX is poor in the majority of frames. The poor VFX used in some high octane action sequences is clearly visible. The poor VFX used in the background in some of the scenes is clearly visible and looks very dull. The VFX in blast scenes is pathetic.

The screenplay is very slow and dull. The screenplay lacks pace, thrill, suspense and fails to create the tense atmosphere. There are many unnecessary scenes added just to fulfill the requirement and condition of a web series. Not a single episode ends on a cliffhanger, failing to create excitement for the next one.

The framework is not so good. Despite making this series on a grand scale, it doesn’t give a feel of watching a big extravaganza. The framework in the whole series gives us a feel of watching a TV serial. The poor framework is clearly visible on a small screen and spoils the viewing experience. Despite having shot at some beautiful locations, the visuals fail to impress.

The color grading is sometimes too dark or sometimes very bright. Especially in the last episode, the yellow color grading looks very cheap. The team has tried to make the series colorful, but too many variations with color frames have spoiled the fun.

The technical aspects are low. Better use of production design, camera work and sound would have made this series achieve technical brilliance. The camera work is good in some parts, but is overshadowed by the poor framework.

This seems like a forcefully made web series where Amazon Prime Video looked keen to work with Rohit Shetty and not caring about the final outcome. This series is a complete misfire.

Nowadays the excitement for web series is dead amongst the audience. The hype for web series was visible during pandemic and even the content which web series had was appealing. The Indian Police Force is a disappointment despite having many big names associated with it. OTT platforms have really turned out to be dustbins, where all the filmmakers have been dumping their garbage.

The cop and terrorist formula now looks very repetitive and outdated. The Indian Police Force has literally killed the excitement for Singham 3. The Cop Universe is drowning and Rohit Shetty should come up with something new and dated, otherwise even a bunch of cops won’t be able to save it.

Watching Indian Police Force will just kill your time and excitement for Singham 3. Instead of watching this series, one should revisit old films of Rohit Shetty. Skip it to avoid the torture.

Rating – 2/5*
