Ekta Kapoor often makes women centric films which talk about feminism and women empowerment. Crew is the latest addition to the list and just like all her films on the given subject, this one also fails to impress. Ekta Kapoor’s disastrous show on the name of women empowerment continues. This Crew fails to provide satisfactory service to the passengers (viewers).

The casting team deserves a huge credit for bringing Tabu, Kareena Kapoor and Kriti Sanon in a single project. The casting is very much perfect as all 3 of them have a separate fan base of their own. There are some films which have a great ensemble cast, but lack quality and Crew is one of them. This Crew deserved a better flight (film). This hottest crew provides ice-cold service.

We haven’t seen Tabu in such a glamorous role in her career and only Ekta Kapoor could have presented her in such an avatar. An actress like Tabu has to go over the top in many scenes, and thanks to this pathetic script. Kareena Kapoor looks absolutely stunning on-screen. Her acting doesn’t offer anything new, as we have already seen her in a character like this. Kriti Sanon is just herself and does a decent job. This crew has done their job by providing decent service (acting), but it is the overall service of flight (film) which disappoints. Kapil Sharma is a total misfit in his role and is paired opposite Tabu, now this is a funny thing. Dilji Dosanjh doesn’t get anything memorable to do on-screen. Rajesh Sharma is a good actor and with his talent he somehow manages to satisfy the audience. Trupti Khamkar is a complete riot. The remaining cast is average to decent.

Crew has undoubtedly the greatest female cast in some last few years. This film could have been a memorable one, but Ekta Kapoor’s narrow and cheap vision along with dull writing has ruined everything. This Crew literally fools the audience with their glamor and beauty. This is beauty without brains. Crew is like that food item which looks very good from outside, but when you taste it, you find it disappointing.

Director Rajesh Krishnan who had made a promising debut with Lootcase, has just messed up all the things in this one. Lootcase was one of the best comedies during Covid times which had organic humor, but everything in Crew looks forced. His direction loses grip as the time passes by.

The writers have written a terrible script. This heist comedy is full of shit. There are many scenes that lack logic. The film has some cheap dialogues which are always there in an Ekta Kapoor film to please a certain section of the audience. The story is somehow average in the first half, but it crashes badly in the second half. Every step of this crew is filled with immaturity. The makers have made a spoof version of Vijay Mallya’s story which looks very childish. Vijay Mallya will go berserk if he watches this film.

The music of Crew is also disappointing. The makers were heavily trolled for ruining the chartbuster track Choli from Khalnayak, but it looks decent on-screen and is foot tapping. The remaining tracks are situational, but do not offer anything. Darbadar is a sad track by B Praak which sounds very good.

All that glitters is not gold, and Ekta Kapoor should understand this. The costume design is fabulous and will please a large section of the audience. The makers knew that they did not have anything in the script, so they brought actresses like Tabu, Kareena and Kriti in a film and made them look glamorous. The film only pleases your eyes with its production design, cast, camera work, glamor, locations, but fails to please your mind by offering a pathetic story.

This time Ekta Kapoor decided to convey her cheap message with the help of air hostesses, and the trick does not work. We haven’t seen a full fledged film based on an air hostess, but if we are getting a film like this, it’s better to stay away.

Ekta Kapoor tried to bring something different from what she had offered previously in the films like Thank You For Coming, Veere Di Wedding, Pagglait and Dolly Kitty Aur Wohi Chamakte Sitare. Empty safe, empty laughs is the sentence which suits this heist comedy. The crew doesn’t rob Vijay Walia, but actually robs the time of the audience.

Overall, Crew is another cheap film by Ekta Kapoor which makes her filmography more ugly. This hottest crew fails to provide satisfactory service to the passengers. This Crew will turn your Good Friday into a Bad Friday and will make a big fool of yours if you are planning to watch it in April. Skip it at any cost.
