Bollywood has been going through a very bad phase. The audience is only getting disappointment after disappointment. Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Neeraj Pandey’s so called latest romantic thriller Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha is another crap. Only Bollywood is capable of making such a crap, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha!
After 23 years, Krishna (older version played by Ajay Devgn and younger version played by Shantanu Maheshwari) is released from prison and reunites with his lost love Vasudha (older version played by Tabu and younger version played by Saiee Manjrekar). In the past, Krishna was involved in several murders resulting in life imprisonment. Because of this, Vasudha separates from him and marries Abhijeet (Jimmy Sheirgill). Will Krishna and Vasudha come together once again? To find this answer you will have to commit a crime by watching this film.
At one point of time, Neeraj Pandey was the second big thing in Bollywood after Rajkumar Hirani. Neeraj had delivered 3 back to back classics in the form of A Wednesday, Special 26 and Baby, which took him into another league. His downfall started from M.S. Dhoni, where he delivered just a good film, but failed to match his standards. He was lost after Aiyaary, as it was total crap. Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha beats Aiyaary by a huge margin in terms of quality. Even a KG kid would have given a better treatment to this film than Neeraj.
Ajay Devgn fails to impress because of this lackluster script. He is only seen wearing 2 pairs of clothes in the whole film, i.e. jail uniform and blue shirt. He has not put a single effort in the acting department, because the script was already dead on paper. Tabu is a powerful actress, but she looks helpless and ineffective. Tabu and Ajay have tried hard to save this film, but the soulless writing does not let them succeed. Ajay and Tabu form a great pair on-screen and deserve a mature love story instead of this dumb story. Jimmy Sheirgill is completely wasted. Saiee Manjrekar and Shantanu Maheshwari have been given very limited scenes, but those scenes are carried repeatedly in the whole film. The chemistry of Saiee and Shantanu was lovable. The remaining cast is not so impressive.
Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha is labeled as a romantic thriller. There is romance, which is unnecessarily stretched and completely outdated. Talking about the thriller part, the audience will wait for the thrill, but won’t receive any and this is the biggest spoiler which I am giving to the audience. People will become numb after watching the climax, as they will scratch their heads and slap themselves. Why did we waste our time watching this pointless film, will be the reaction of the viewers. You will wait for thrill, suspense, twists and turns, but apart from all these you will get every nonsense.
The screenplay is unnecessarily stretched and dull. A story which could have been easily told in 14.5 minutes is turned into a feature film of 145 minutes. The story doesn’t move an inch forward, and audiences are fooled with the same repetitive scenes and dialogues. The same scene is presented in 3 to 4 different camera angles. The screenplay of this film should be termed as one of the worst screenplays ever.
The writers should receive a heavy bashing for writing this crap. How can someone give a green signal to this kind of script? What was the purpose of making this film? Even a melodramatic TV serial or a daily soap advertisement looks like a masterpiece in front of this. I wonder how Ajay, Tabu and Neeraj Pandey agreed to do such a type of film, which even a low grade film industry won’t dare to make.
Only thing which seems to be impressive about this film is its music. Ae Dil Zara and Jahan Se Chale The are undoubtedly the finest tracks of 2024. The BGM of these 2 tracks is very soothing and gives immense pleasure to your ears. Tuu is another powerful track lifted by Sukhwinder Singh and Javed Ali’s energetic voices. Kisi Roz is a perfect track for all the classical music lovers out there. MM Keeravani has created magic with his music. The lyrics are very meaningful. This crap doesn’t deserve this gem of a music album. The songs act as a painkiller and reduce the amount of headache.
This film is very slow and will definitely test your patience. You will need a lot of Dum (courage) to tolerate this and I think our mind is not capable of it. The interval comes at a very silly and ordinary point, which even a kid can predict. The film has many unnecessarily stretched scenes. A simple walking scene which hardly requires seconds, has been stretched for minutes. There are many long pause sequences, which were never required at all. In simple words, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha is the worst film of the year.
Do not advise anyone to watch this movie or take anyone along with you to the theater, otherwise your relationship with that person will definitely get spoiled. If you are watching this film, then you’re committing a crime and digging your own grave, and Ajay Devgn’s dialogue perfectly suits you – ‘Dushman The Hum Hi Apne, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha’. Ajay Devgn says, ‘Sau Dard Diye Jisne, Jo Dard Kaa Marham Tha’ and in reply I would like to say, ‘Ye Film Aapko Aissa Dard Degi Ki, Jiska Marham Aap Kabhi Nahi Dhund Paoge’. Only Bollywood can make such a crap, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha!
