Classical Music Maestro Ustad Rashid Khan passed away at the age of 55. He was undergoing treatment in Kolkata. He passed away after a prolonged battle with prostate cancer. 

Ustad Rashid Khan was undergoing treatment at Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital in Mumbai, but he later opted to undergo treatment in Kolkata. 

His health began to decline since he suffered a cerebral attack last year. He passed away around 3:45 pm and was on a ventilator while receiving oxygen support. 

Ustad Rashid Khan’s body will be placed at Rabindra Sadan in Kolkata for his admirers to pay their last respect. His funeral will take place with a gun salute tomorrow afternoon. 

Ustad Rashid Khan belonged to the Rampur-Sahaswan Gharana, and was the great grandson of Gharana founder Inayat Hussain Khan. He was awarded Padma Shri in 2006 and Padma Bhushan in 2022. 

Some renowned singers like Sonu Nigam, Vishal Dadlani, Harshdeep Kaur and Javed Ali took to their social media expressing their grief and offered condolences. 

He has been associated with many Bollywood films like My Name Is Khan, Jab We Met, Raaz 3, Kisna, Mausam, Hate Story 2, Citylights, Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana, etc.

Ustad Rashid Khan’s death has come as a shock to the whole music fraternity. His loss is irreplaceable.
