The Marathi film industry, which boasts a rich tradition of experimental and conceptually innovative cinema, is set to welcome another unique subject with the announcement of the film ‘Natmastak’. Films with social relevance have always resonated deeply with the audience, prompting the creation of movies that serve as a mirror to society. The newly announced ‘Natmastak’ is the next step on this path. The film’s first-look poster has successfully generated great curiosity about its core subject.

The film ‘Natmastak’ is produced by Ramesh Wamanrao Shinde under the banner of R. S. Golden Group Movie Makers. This marks the debut production for Mr. Shinde, a successful Pune-based entrepreneur and a prominent social activist.

Directing ‘Natmastak’ is Mahesh Raosaheb Kale, an acclaimed filmmaker who has won several national and international awards for his short and feature films on diverse subjects. His short film ‘Rupaya’ notably won a National Award, and his feature film ‘Ghuma’ received a Maharashtra State Government Award. Following the much-discussed Marathi thriller ‘Tarri,’ starring Lalit Prabhakar, ‘Natmastak’ will be his next venture, focusing on a distinct and meaningful subject.

The announcement was made with the launch of the film’s first poster. The visual is stark and powerful: it features a burning fire inside a well located in a cracked, drought-stricken field. A young woman is seen walking towards the well, with a cow standing nearby. This imagery offers a glimpse into the grim realities faced in certain parts of Maharashtra. The film is slated for a release across Maharashtra next year.

Commenting on the film, director Mahesh Kale said, “The film’s poster genuinely heightens the curiosity. The image shown on the poster is not fictional; it narrates a terrifying truth. While details about the film’s storyline are currently under wraps, they will be revealed soon, along with the names of the cast. ‘Natmastak’ is not merely an entertainment film; it is an effort to bring about social awakening and offer a new direction to society.”

Kale also credited producer Ramesh Shinde, stating that it was his appreciation for the film’s subject that made a project like ‘Natmastak’ possible.

‘Natmastak’ is based on a crucial social theme. Being a social worker, producer Ramesh Shinde was deeply moved by the film’s subject and message, prompting him to take charge of the production. His existing social work includes women empowerment, business awareness, encouraging youth entrepreneurship, cow protection and mercy initiatives through Goshala, supporting orphans, and contributing to school education.

Mr. Shinde expressed his motivation, saying that having been successful in the industrial sector and observing the surrounding realities, he felt a responsibility toward society. It is this feeling of giving back that inspired him to bow his head and produce this socially significant film.
