Adipurush was based on the Hindu epic Ramayana. When you are telling a story of god, you should be very careful and sensitive. If you are showing something which hurts the sentiments of people, then you will receive the bashing.
Emotions of billions of people have been associated with Ramayana. There are many devotees of Lord Rama and Hanuman Ji worldwide. You should be sensible enough to make a film which is based on gods.
Adipurush was one of the most anticipated films at the time of its announcement. When the teaser was released, it received a heavy bashing and trolling for its childish and cartoonish VFX and looks of all the characters.
Nothing seemed to be right for Adipurush promos and there was a lot of negativity around the film. When the film received, it had certain dialogues which had hurt the sentiments of many people.
Some dialogues like, Lord Hanuman ji saying to Indrajith (Ravana’s son) – Kapda tere baap kaa, tel tere baap kaa, aag bhi tere baap ki, toh jalegi bhi tere baap ki.
Hanuman Ji saing, ‘Jo humaari behno ko haath lagayga uski lanka laga denge.’
Another dialogue of Bua Ka Bagicha had also received backlash.
Adipurush had an opening of more than 100 crores but after that film had seen a drastic fall in collections due to poor WOM.
3 weeks after the release, dialogue writer Manoj Muntashir had publicly apologized for hurting people’s sentiments.
Manoj Muntashir while apologizing shared a tweet on twitter. The tweet read as, “I accept people’s emotions have been hurt by Adipurush. With folded hands, I extend my unconditional apologies. May Prabhu Bajrang Bali keep us united and grant us strength to serve our sacred Sanatan and our great nation.”
