3] Geethanjali (1989)

Geethanjali is one of the most iconic and finest romantic films ever made in Indian cinema. This was the only Telugu film directed by Mani Ratnam and he delivered a gem of a film. The film has many metaphors which make this film more special. This is a timeless saga which has all the ingredients of a perfect romantic drama. The film had Nagarjuna and Girija in the lead roles. 4] Anjali (1990)

This is undoubtedly the best film directed by Mani Ratnam. Mani Ratnam made a hard hitting Masterpiece which turned out to be an emotional tearjerker. The film deals with the story of a dying mentally disabled child, and the emotional trauma experienced by her family. This underrated gem is a must watch film for all the movie lovers.
