At just 21, Ashnoor Kaur, the beloved child star who grew up before our eyes in shows like Patiala Babes, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai as young Naira, and Shobha Somnath Ki, is ready to take on the biggest challenge of her career: Bigg Boss 19.
In an exclusive chat with Film Window, Ashnoor revealed how the journey began. She admitted that she had been offered Bigg Boss earlier too but chose to decline because she was still in college and felt too young for such a daunting reality show. Now that I have grown above all that, I thought why not take the leap this year, she said, with a mix of excitement and nervous butterflies.
Interestingly, Ashnoor confessed she hasn’t been a loyal follower of the show, but one person inspired her to step in, her Yeh Rishta co-star Hina Khan. “Hina di is like an elder sister. She did Bigg Boss so courageously, and I have always admired her. We actually spoke for three hours before I entered the house. She told me what to do, what not to do, and gave me one big piece of advice: whatever you do, own it up and always voice your opinions” said Ashnoor.
Not just Hina, but even Rohan Mehra, Rohan bhaiya from Yeh Rishta, and her friend Sumbul Touqeer gave her valuable guidance. Sumbul, reflecting on her own mistakes, told her, “Mai apne shell mein chali gayi, tum mat jaana.”
When asked about the infamous Bigg Boss l’ove angles’, Ashnoor was crystal clear. “Mujhe nahi lagta kisi ko bhi teen mahine mein pyaar ho sakta hai. I value relationships and friendships a lot. I will not fake a love story just for the sake of the game. I am here to play, I am here for the trophy.”
The actress strongly believes the audience is sharper than ever. “Fans can now see through people’s fakeness. That is why I don’t have a strategy. I will just be real and spontaneous,” she said with conviction.
Addressing her age, Ashnoor had the perfect reply for anyone doubting her capability. Everyone says I am very mature for 21. I don’t act like a kid. I think I have enough experience and maturity to not be treated like one. She proved that even on premiere night when she stood beside Salman Khan.
And she isn’t walking this journey alone. From Jannat Zubair to Chinki Minki, her industry friends are cheering her from outside, while she takes her fearless spirit inside. As Ashnoor puts it herself, “I just want fans to watch the show and choose who they want to support, not because of outside fan following but for what they see inside the house.”
One thing is for sure, Ashnoor Kaur may have been TV’s innocent little princess once, but on Bigg Boss 19, she is stepping in as a young warrior with fire in her eyes.
