There was a lot of debate going on social media about North vs South on the social media.

South films like KGF 2, Pushpa, RRR and Kantara did exceptionally well at the Hindi Box Office. Bollywood films with big stars were underperforming at the Box Office and South films were doing well. This whole scenario led to discussion and debates on social media.

2023 started with a bang for Bollywood, as Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan smashed each and every existing record and emerged as an All Time Grosser. Pathaan opened 400 cr and 500 cr clubs for Bollywood. Some moderate budget films like The Kerala Story, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, OMG 2, Dream Girl 2 and Fukrey 3 also emerged as clean hits at the Box Office. Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 also created history at the Box Office by emerging as an All Time Grosser. Shah Rukh Khan delivered back to back All Time Grossers and back to back 500 cr films with Jawan. Bollywood made a solid comeback in 2023 at the Box Office. Films like Tiger 3, Animal, Sam Bahadur and Dunki are yet to release in this year and have a potential to become huge hits.

Vikrant Massey who will be next seen in Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s inspirational drama 12th Fail discussed with us about the North vs South debate and comeback of Bollywood in an exclusive interview.

Vikrant said, “It’s a very great time. It’s a great time not just for actors but for everyone, for technicians, for journalists and for publications. This is like an ecosystem and we are a small part of it. It’s a great time for story telling. This is a win for the whole Indian Cinema. If we blatantly speak the truth, 6-8 years ago regional cinema did not get that platform. You visit an OTT platform and you will get regional cinema. This is a collective victory and we should see it that way. There was a huge debate some time ago of North vs South. I was like let’s wait for 1 year and everything will be back to normal. If we see today, we celebrate films from South, we celebrate films from North. This is a victory for Indian Cinema and we have to see it in that way.”

12th Fail is all set to release on 27th October. The film is directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and stars Vikrant Massey in the lead role. 12th Fail is based on the life of IPS Officer Manoj Kumar Sharma.
