Innocent Vareed Thekkethala popularly known as Innocent has majorly worked in Malayalam films. He has also acted in Tamil, Kannada and Hindi films. In his career span of 50 years he has been a part of more than 750 films. He has mostly appeared in comic roles and was regarded as one of the best comedians of our nation.
Innocent was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2012 and after three years he won the battle against cancer. He died due to cardiac arrest and multi organ failure. He was infected with Covid. He was admitted to the hospital on 3rd March after complaining of breathing problems and was kept on oxygenation support. He also had cancer related complications. He breathed his last at a private hospital in Kerala on 25th March at 10:30 pm.
He has served as an Member of Parliament representing Chalakudy Constituency from 2014 to 2019. He was the president of Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) from 2003 to 2018.
Innocent started his career in 1972 with the film Nrityashala. Since 1980, he has had at least 1 release every year except for 2020. He was last seen in Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer Kaduva which was released in 2022. He will be last seen in Fahadh Faasil starrer Paachuvum Albhutha Vilakkum which is all set to release on 28th April, 2023.
The mortal remains of the actor will be kept at Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium (Kochi) in the morning from 8 am to 11 am and at Irinjalakuda Municipal Town hall from 1 pm to 3:30 pm for the public to pay homage.
Legendary actor Innocent has entertained and made us laugh for the last 50 years. Passing away of legendary actor Innocent is a huge loss for Indian Cinema. May his soul rest in peace.
