Revisiting 2023: Top 5 Highest Grossing Bollywood Movies

2023 has been a very memorable year for Bollywood. From the Box Office perspective, Bollywood had never witnessed a better year than 2023 before. 

Bollywood inaugurated 400 cr, 450 cr, 500 cr and 550 cr clubs in 2023. Bollywood witnesses 3 All Time Grossers (highest of all time) in a single year. Bollywood also delivered 4 films which collected more than 500 cr at the Indian Box Office. 

Shah Rukh Khan started the year with a bang. SRK’s Pathaan surpassed the 7 years old record of Aamir Khan’s Dangal and emerged as an All Time Grosser. Pathaan opened 400 cr, 450 cr and 500 cr clubs for Bollywood. Pathaan became the highest grossing Bollywood film of all time at the Global Box Office (1st Phase). 

Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 created history at the Box Office and emerged as an All Time Grosser by going past the numbers of Pathaan. Gadar became the only franchise in Bollywood whose both the parts emerged as All Time Grossers. Despite facing a clash with Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2, Gadar 2 broke many records. 

Gadar 2 remained the shortest All Time Grosser (time span), as Shah Rukh Khan again regained his top position with Jawan. Jawan opened a 550 cr club for Bollywood. Jawan became the only Bollywood film at the time of its release to collect more than 50 cr from dubbed languages. Jawan is the highest grossing Indian film of the year, as it has recorded 1160 cr gross worldwide. 

Ranbir Kapoor and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s gangster drama ‘Animal’ became a nationwide sensation. Animal became the highest grossing ‘A’ rated Indian film of all time. Animal is still ruling the Box Office and will be entering the 500 cr club soon. Animal became the only Bollywood film after Jawan to collect more than 50 cr from dubbed languages. 

Salman Khan had 2 releases in the year. Despite not collecting huge at the Box Office, Tiger 3 managed to emerge as the highest grossing Bollywood film of all time during Diwali.
