The trailer of Dhadak 2, featuring Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi, has made a huge online buzz for its emotionally engaging plotline and socially conscious theme. Directed by Dharma Productions, the movie is a spiritual sequel to the 2018 romantic drama Dhadak but this time with a more in-depth and intense exploration of caste discrimination and social justice. In the trailer, Siddhant is seen playing Neelesh, a poor boy from a marginalized community who secures admission to a college under a reservation quota. He soon finds himself struggling with the silent and systemic nature of caste-based discrimination.

Triptii Dimri, who plays Vidhi, emerges as the heart of the story, a progressive young woman who not only falls in love with Neelesh but also stands firmly by him as they challenge the social norms and prejudices that threaten to tear them apart. Their chemistry, as seen in the trailer, has been widely praised by fans and film enthusiasts alike. Most social media users have praised Triptii’s performance and termed it a comeback of the actress. Terms such as “Triptii is back in form” and “Acting, emotions, and drama, everything in one trailer” have been overwhelming platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram.

The movie, which has been directed by Shazia Iqbal, boasts a robust ensemble cast of Vipin Sharma, Manjiri Pupala, Deeksha Joshi, and Ashish Chaudhary. The production of the movie is handled by a formidable team comprising Karan Johar, Umesh Kumar Bansal, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Meenu Aroraa, Somen Mishra, and Pragati Deshmukh. Marijke deSouza also comes on board as a co-producer.

While its narrative is so strong, Dhadak 2 was singled out by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and granted a U/A certificate only after it had made 16 substantial cuts. These cuts apparently involved the deletion and altering of some references to caste, along with the inclusion of disclaimers about political and religious sensitivities. This was done in order for the message of the film to be balanced yet retain its effect.

Scheduled for a theater release on August 1, 2025, Dhadak 2 is set to be more than the traditional romantic drama. It is set to be an incitant of social inequality, identity, and resistance, all built on the emotional depth and cinematic richness one comes to expect from a Dharma production. With Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi in charge, fans are looking forward to a movie that combines love with courage and timeliness.
