Whenever we talk about the best singer ever produced in our country, there’s only 1 name that comes to our mind and that is Lata Mangeshkar, fondly called Lata Didi. Lata Mangeshkar was born on 28th September 1929 in Indore, India. She breathed her last at Breach Candy Hospital situated in Mumbai on 6th February 2022 at the age of 92.

Lata didi has recorded more than 25,000 songs in over 36 Indian Languages, primarily in Hindi, Marathi, and Bengali over 7 decades. She has also recorded songs in Foreign Languages. She gained titles such as ‘Nightingale Of India’, ‘Queen Of Melody’ & ‘Voice Of The Millennium’.

In 2001, in recognition of her contributions to the nation, she was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor. She is only the second female singer, after M. S. Subbulakshmi, to receive this honor. She has also been honored with Padma Bhushan (1969) & Padma Vibhushan (1999). She has also been bestowed with the Dada Saheb Phalke Award in 1989 by the Government of India. She has been the recipient of 3 National Film Awards, 4 Filmfare Best Female Playback Singer, and Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award. At one point, she appeared in the Guinness World Records, which listed her as the most-recorded artist in history between 1948 and 1987.
