On his birthday, July 6, 2025, when he turned 40, Ranveer Singh took fans by surprise with the teaser of his next action-thriller Dhurandhar. Directed by Aditya Dhar, whose film Uri: The Surgical Strike was highly acclaimed, Dhurandhar is a return to leading roles for Ranveer and presents a darker, more intense version of the actor. The teaser arrived at precisely 12:12 p.m., as had been promised by the actor in the countdown days leading up to the unveiling.

The 2-minute-40-second teaser shows Ranveer sporting a tough, gritty appearance with long hair, a thick beard, and a bloodshot eye. He is a man injured but dangerous, and the powerful line, “Ghayal hoon isliye ghatak hoon” (I am injured, therefore I am lethal), says it all. The teaser is full of high-speed action scenes, brutal combat scenes, and a haunting backdrop. A Punjabi rap song provides the background as gruesome images flash on the screen, such as a shocking scene in which a man is shoved into bubbling water.

The cast of supporting actors comprises a strong list of talent like Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sara Arjun. All of them show up in the teaser for a fleeting but intense moment, building excitement for what they will be doing in the movie. Fans and industry observers were quick to respond to the teaser, with many hailing the casting as “insane” and saluting Ranveer’s intense transformation. Twitter was filled with posts such as “Ranveer Singh comeback loading” and appreciation for the production value and intense tone of the teaser.

Dhurandhar is said to be inspired by real events from the intelligence history of India and set against the backdrop of espionage and clandestine operations, mainly in the 1970s and 1980s. The movie is said to delve into lesser-seen tales of Indian spies and agents, combining action with historical suspense. The tone and handling of the film indicate a departure from mainstream commercial action towards a more realistic and aggressive narrative.

Particularly, Ranveer Singh removed all his old Instagram posts prior to releasing the Dhurandhar teaser, which marked the reset in his career and image. Many felt that the action was symbolic of him moving into heavier roles. Dhurandhar is also his first big lead role since Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, excluding a special appearance in Singham Again.

The film is scheduled for theatrical release on December 5, 2025. With huge expectations from the critics and masses, and a powerful team supporting it, Dhurandhar is already being counted among the most eagerly awaited Bollywood releases of the year. The teaser has managed to create anticipation, giving a glimpse of a revenge-driven thriller that promises both emotional depth and dynamite action.
