In a shocking turn of events, veteran TV and film actor Ram Kapoor has been dropped from the promotional campaigns of his upcoming JioHotstar web series ‘Mistry’ after allegedly making sexually inappropriate and offensive remarks during a recent media interaction. What was supposed to be a routine press day in Mumbai quickly turned into a full-blown controversy that’s now rocking the OTT world.

On June 19, the cast of Mistry, an Indian adaptation of the American hit series Monk, gathered at a Mumbai hotel for press junkets. While Mona Singh gracefully interacted with the media, insiders say things took a disturbing turn when Ram Kapoor allegedly crossed the line multiple times.

According to eyewitnesses, the actor made a disturbing joke about feeling “gang-raped” in front of journalists while adjusting his mic, a comment that left many visibly uncomfortable. But it didn’t stop there. He reportedly made lewd remarks about sex positions, passed comments on a female crew member’s outfit, and even joked about how his mother “should have gone to sleep” instead of conceiving him. One comment even involved him joking about kissing a male marketing executive, raising serious concerns about workplace decorum.

The backlash was swift.

By June 20, JioHotstar’s HR and leadership teams had reviewed the situation, leading to the immediate exclusion of Ram Kapoor from all promotional activities related to the show. The streaming platform emphasized that it has a zero-tolerance policy toward workplace misconduct, especially during official campaigns.

Meanwhile, Mona Singh has now become the solo face of the show, continuing with the remaining promotional events. The platform is also reportedly implementing enhanced sensitivity protocols for cast and crew to prevent such issues in the future.

Mistry, set to premiere on June 27, 2025, stars Kapoor as Armaan Mistry, a quirky yet brilliant detective, alongside Mona Singh’s ACP Sehmat Siddiqui. But now, the show is making headlines not for its plot, but for this unexpected scandal.

As fans express disappointment and disbelief, one thing is clear: Ram Kapoor’s off-screen remarks may have just cast a long shadow on what could’ve been one of the year’s biggest OTT launches.
