Rajkumar Hirani’s latest film Dunki was released on 21st December. This was Rajkumar Hirani’s 6th film as a director which had Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role.
Rajkumar Hirani had decided to make the third film in the Munna Bhai series in the past. Munna Bhai MBBS and Lage Raho Munna Bhai were classics and emerged as huge hits at the Box Office.
Munna Bhai is the most iconic and loved character of Sanjay Dutt. Circuit is undoubtedly the career best performance of Arshad Warsi. Munna Bhai MBBS and Lage Raho Munna Bhai are two of the greatest films ever made in Indian Cinema. Munna Bhai series has a separate fan base and is loved by every age group.
Hirani’s latest film Dunki was based on the concept of ‘Donkey Route’. The film was based on true stories where people try to cross the border in illegal ways and migrate to foreign countries.
There was a scene in Dunki where the characters are trying to learn English as they want to go to London. Many years ago a teaser of ‘Munna Bhai Chale Amerika’ was released. In the teaser we can see Munna and Circuit are trying to learn English.

Munna Bhai Chale Amerika got shelved due to some reasons and now Rajkumar Hirani has finally revealed why he shelved that film.
There were also many news doing rounds on social media, which said that Dunki is a modified version of Munna Bhai Chale America.
Recently in an interaction with ANI, Rajkumar Hirani said, “That was a very different story. Munna and Circuit are learning English because they want to go to America. George Bush was the American President at that time. They wanted to bring him to India to apologize for some reason. My Name Is Khan came which had a similar story where Shah Rukh goes hunting for the president Barack Obama. So there was a similarity. They were learning English just to go to America. That was a different story and this is Punjab’s story. Dunki is based on a real story and that was a fictional story. The only similarity between Dunki and that story was that the characters are learning English, but altogether both are different stories.”
