Anupam Kher celebrated the 67th birthday of his late friend Satish Kaushik yesterday at ISKCON auditorium, Juhu. Instead of mourning his demise, Anupam Kher decided to celebrate the wonderful life of Satish Kaushik at the event. A musical night was arranged to celebrate the occasion.
Some renowned celebrities like Anil Kapoor, Rani Mukerji, Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar, Shankar Mahadevan, Johnny Lever, Shubhash Ghai, Chunky Panday, Anup Soni, Juhi Babbar, etc. were seen in the event.
Anupam Kher said at the event that, “Today is Satish Kaushik’s 67th birthday. He would have been 67 today. Out of his 67 years, I have spent 48 years with him. I will try not to cry. So if you are wondering why I decided to celebrate his birthday today, rather than mourning his death. About 11 years ago, on February 11, 2012, my father passed away and my parents were married for 59 years. When your partner is no more with you after living with you for 59 years, you don’t just lose a husband or a wife, you lose a partner, a friend, you lose somebody you argue with, you lose somebody you fight with. I wondered how my mother would live alone without my father. So I thought instead of mourning my father’s demise, I will celebrate his life because he has led a great life.”
He further added by saying, “We often don’t share our worries with our family members because we don’t want to scare them. However, we share everything with our friends. Anil was not here when Satish passed away. He was shooting abroad. Our friendship has survived all ups and downs. It is the most amazing gift God has given us.”
While stating the reason to celebrate this occasion Anupam Kher said, “A few days back I decided to do this because I wanted to celebrate him and be happy but I was still mourning his death. So, since the wound was still there, I decided not to do this and called his wife Shashi. But the next day Satish came in my dream. He was sitting and smiling and eating. He said, ‘Yaar tu mere liye kuch nahi kar raha hai kya?’ So I decided to have this celebration for him today.”
Anupam Kher, Anil Kapoor and Satish Kaushik were known as three musketeers. Their friendship had set an example in the industry.
