Director Milap Zaveri has asserted that the next movie Masti 4 won’t be taking a cue from the previous ones as an adult comedy. Having worked on previous Masti and other adult comedies such as Mastizaade, Zaveri has deliberately moved away from the genre. In a recent interview, he stated that Masti 4 will have the franchise’s characteristic mischievous humor without vulgarity. The director made it clear that the movie would be clean but fun, and more in line with the tone of the first Masti than the nude content with Grand Masti or Great Grand Masti.
Zaveri disclosed that the reason is based on personal development and an evolving creative mindset. He confessed that he no longer finds adult comedies interesting and that the genre has been getting tougher to work with, particularly considering the constraints of censorship. Motivated by industry stalwarts such as Salman Khan and Tiger Shroff, Zaveri now aspires to work on projects based on heroism, emotion, and good stories. He added that his recent films such as the action film Satyameva Jayate and short film Raakh are a manifestation of this change.
Masti 4 will feature the comeback of the original trio Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi, and Aftab Shivdasani. The movie is being made by Indra Kumar with whom Zaveri has shared a long-term working relationship. Though the project will continue to venture into comedy and light-hearted narration, the filmmakers have promised to make the material family-friendly. Production of Masti 4 will commence soon in Mumbai with the schedule to shift to London in the next. Zaveri, who also co-directed the initial Masti with Tushar Hiranandani, expressed his enthusiasm for bringing back the characters and assuring fans of a fresh and witty experience without too much crossing over into adult content.
