The film marked the debut of Vivek Oberoi in Bollywood. The film also marked the debut of Mega Legend Mohanlal in Bollywood. The film also starred Manish Koirala and Antara Mali. 4. Gangaajal (2003)

In 2003, Ajay Devgn starred in action crime drama Gangaajal. Ajay Devgn played the role of a tough cop named Amit Kumar. Prakash Jha directed this hard hitting classic which dealt with social issues, political violence and corruption. The film had Gracy Singh as the leading lady. The film had many talented actors like Mukesh Tiwari, Akhilendra Mishra, Yashpal Sharma, Mohan Agashe, Mohan Joshi, Anup Soni and Dayashankar Pandey. Ajay’s performance as an intense and tough cop was widely praised. The film did average business at the Box Office.

5. Raincoat (2004)

Raincoat is the film which only true movie buff and hardcore Ajay Devgn fans would have witnessed. Raincoat is the most underrated film in Ajay Devgn and Aishwarya Rai’s filmography. Raincoat is an underrated gem directed by Rituparno Ghosh. Ajay Devgn nailed his role as Mannu Tripathi in this romantic drama. This classic heart-breaker was known for its mic drop burn in the climax. The film didn’t work at the box office.

6. Omkara (2006)

Vishal Bhardwaj had directed Maqbool in 2003 which was an adaptation of Shakespeare’s play Macbeth. In 2006, he made Omkara which was an Indian adaptation of Shakespeare’s play Othello. Ajay Devgn played the role of Omkara Sharma with such an ease that it was a pleasure to the eyes. Omkara also starred Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Vivek Oberoi, Konkona Sen and Bipasha Basu. The item song ‘Beedi’ was a chartbuster. Apart from Ajay’s performance Saif Ali Khan’s portrayal as Langda Tyagi was immensely praised. Omkara was raw, dark and strong. 7. Drishyam (2015)

In 2015, Ajay Devgn starred in the remake of Malayalam Masterpiece Drishyam which had Mohanlal in the lead role. Ajay Devgn received immense praise for his portrayal as Vijay Salgaonkar. Ajay Devgn plays the role of a father and a husband who protects their family for an unexpected crime which they have committed. Drishyam is regarded as the finest suspense thriller made in the history of Bollywood. The film was directed by Late Nishikant Kamat. It was a treat to watch the cat and mouse game between Ajay Devgn and Tabu. The film also stars Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta, Mrunal Jadhav, Kamlesh Sawant and Rajat Kapoor. The film was applauded for its performances, story, thrills and suspense. A sequel to Drishyam was released in 2022 titled Drishyam 2. Drishyam 2 went on to become a huge Blockbuster at the Box Office.
