The Kerala Story tells the story of 3 girls from Kerala who are brainwashed and are told to convert their religion into Islam. The brainwashing is of a dangerous level that makes their lives miserable. The film tells that how the females are used as suicide bombers and sex slaves in the name of religion. The film is directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah. The film stars Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani and Siddhi Idnani in the lead roles. The film was in the headlines due to its controversial subject. The film releases on 5th May.

2) Afwaah

Afwaah is directed by Sudhir Mishra and produced by Anubhav Sinha. The film stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead roles. The film also stars Sumeet Vyas, Sharib Hashmi, Sumit Kaul and TJ Bhanu. Afwaah is a quirky thriller which tells the story of how one rumor has caused chaos and havoc in the lives of 3 people. The film tells about the aftereffects of one false rumor and how it spreads and behaves like a monster that doesn’t stop chasing you. The film releases on 5th May.

3) 8 A.M. Metro

The film stars Gulshan Devaiah and Saiyami Kher in the lead roles. The film is directed by Raj R. The film tells the story of two strangers who bump into each other in the metro and develop an unlikely friendship. This friendship changes their lives and their behavior as humans. The film tells the emotional journey of redefining life, love and their own selves. The intellectual looking love story film is all set to release on 19th May.

4) Kathal

The Pagglait trio of Sanya Malhotra, Ekta Kapoor (Balaji Motion Pictures) and Guneet Monga (Sikhya Entertainment) collaborate once again for Kathal. Kathal is all set to release on Netflix on 19th May. The film stars Sanya Malhotra, Vijay Raaz, Rajpal Yadav amongst others. The film is directed by Yashowardhan Mishra. Sanya Malhotra plays the role of a police officer in a rural area who has to find the missing Kathal (jackfruit).

5) Aazam

Aazam tells the story of Mumbai underworld mafia don Nawab Khan who is suffering from blood cancer and has only a few days to live. The film revolves about the associates of the don, rise of a new don and how their lives are changed. Aazam is directed by Shravan Tiwari. The film stars Jimmy Shergill, Abhimanyu Singh, Indraneil Sengupta, Sanjeev Tyagi, Raza Murad, Sayaji Shinde, Mushtaq Khan, Govind Namdev and Anang Desai. The film will be released on 19th May in cinemas.

In May, there are low budget films clashing with each other at the Box Office. The Kerala Story has been in headlines for its controversial subject and can do wonders at the Box Office. 8 A.M. Metro can be a treat for intellectual movie lovers if the final product is as good as the trailer. The trailer reminded us of Irrfan Khan starrer The Lunchbox.
