In an emotional revelation that’s melting hearts across B-town, Kareena Kapoor Khan recently opened up about a deeply personal and heartwarming moment: her parents, Randhir Kapoor and Babita, have decided to spend their old age together, after being separated for over three decades.
Yes, you read that right. The once-separated couple, who parted ways in 1988 but never divorced, are now choosing to live out their golden years side by side, and according to Kareena, it feels like “a divine intervention.”
Speaking in an interview with Barkha Dutt on Mojo Story, Kareena revealed, “It’s literally like a full circle, now in their 70s, my parents have decided to spend their old age together, holding hands.” For Kareena and her sister Karisma Kapoor, who were raised by Babita after the separation, this reunion is nothing short of a miracle. “Everyone says their parents are the best. But mine really are,” Kareena smiled.
Babita and Randhir Kapoor first fell in love on the sets of Kal Aaj Aur Kal and tied the knot in 1971. However, life took different turns for the two, Babita left films to focus on raising Kareena and Karisma, while Randhir stayed active in the industry. They parted ways in 1988, living separately ever since. But the bond never truly broke. There was no bitterness, no divorce, just space and time.
Kareena described her mother Babita as a force of strength and grace, especially for supporting Karisma when she became the first Kapoor woman to enter Bollywood, something unheard of in the legendary film family back then. “She stood by Lolo (Karisma) when she chose to act. And she stood by me too. She’s our biggest cheerleader.”
Even though they didn’t live together for decades, Babita and Randhir remained cordial, occasionally seen together at family functions. But this decision to reunite in old age? It’s a moment that’s tugged at the emotional strings of fans and insiders alike.
Currently, Kareena is gearing up for her next film Daayra, directed by Meghna Gulzar and co-starring Prithviraj Sukumaran. But even with exciting projects on the horizon, this deeply personal family moment clearly holds a special place in her heart.
In an industry where relationships often make headlines for the wrong reasons, this story of love, time, and reunion proves that sometimes, just sometimes, life gives people a second chance at forever.
