Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan have completed 50 years of their marriage and today marks the Golden Jubilee Anniversary for the couple. The couple tied the knot on 3rd June, 1973. The couple first met on the sets of Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Guddi. Due to date issues Amitabh Bachchan was not able to do the film. Their bond got stronger on the sets of Abhimaan and Zanjeer. Zanjeer and Abhimaan both were released in 1973. The couple was blessed with daughter Shweta in 1974 and son Abhishek in 1976.

On the 50th Anniversary, Amitabh Bachchan penned a heartfelt note on his personal blog. While sharing the note he wrote, “June 3 dawns in a few .. and the years be counted as 50 .. love respect and gratitude for the wishes, that have come and perhaps shall come ..”

On this special occasion, Shweta also shared a post on her Instagram account for her parents. While sharing the post with a beautiful picture she wrote the caption by saying, “Happy 50th parents ~ now you’re ‘Golden’ once on being asked what the secret to a long marriage is, my mother answered – love, and I think my fathers was – the wife is always right. That’s the long & short of it !!”

Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan had worked together in many films like Bansi Birju (1972), Ek Nazar (1972), Zanjeer (1973), Abhimaan (1973), Sholay (1975), Mili (1975), Chupke Chupke (1975), Silsila (1981) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001).
