Akshaye Khanna turns 48 Today. Akshaye Khanna has worked in many Hindi films and is popular among the masses. Akshaye Khanna has always been a supporting actor more than a lead actor. He has never been that lucky at the Box Office as well but as an actor has delivered strong performances. Akshaye Khanna is the son of popular actor Late Vinod Khanna.

He made his debut in 1997 with the film Himalaya Putra. This was the only film where Vinod Khanna and Akshaye Khanna were seen together in a film. The film flopped at the Box Office. Akshaye Khanna’s 2nd film Border where he played a supporting role created havoc at the Box Office. Border emerged as an All Time Blockbuster at the Box Office. Border has the highest number of footfalls for an Akshaye Khanna film. After Border, Akshaye’s popularity increased. In 1999, he starred in Rishi Kapoor’s only directorial film Aa Ab Laut Chalen opposite Aishwarya Rai. The film was a flop at the Domestic Box Office but a success at the Overseas Box Office. In the same year he was also seen in Subhash Ghai directorial, Taal. Taal was the 3rd highest grossing film in 1999 with a super hit music album.

In 2001, Akshaye Khanna appeared in Dil Chahta Hai alongside Aamir Khan and Saif Ali Khan. Dil Chahta Hai was a critical and commercial success. Dil Chahta Hai is the One of the Finest Films made in Indian Cinema. It is Akshaye’s career best film. In 2002, Akshaye Khanna starred in a negative role in Abbas-Mastan directorial Humraaz. Akshaye’s performance in Humraaz received immense praise. Humraaz also starred Bobby Deol and Ameesha Patel. In the same year he was seen in Anees Bazmee directorial Deewangee. Deewangee being a very good film tanked at the Box Office. In 2003, he was seen in Priyadarshan directorial Hungama. Hungama was a critical and commercial success. Akshaye’s performance in the film was lauded. In 2004, he delivered Hulchul which was declared a Hit at the Box Office. Hulchul was appreciated for its comedy, direction, performances and story.

In 2006, he had another Box Office success with Abbas-Mastan directorial 36 China Town. The murder mystery 36 China Town was applauded for it’s plot, suspense, thrills and performances. In 2008, he was seen in Abbas-Mastan directorial Race. Race was a Hit at the Box Office and was received well by the critics as well as the public. Akshaye had a release in 2012, Gali Gali Chor Hai and took a break from the films for 4 years. He was seen in Dishoom in 2016. In 2017, he was seen in Sridevi starrer Mom. In the same year he was seen in Ittefaq. In 2017, Akshaye Khanna played the role of a tough cop twice. In 2019, he was seen in The Accidental Prime Minister which was based on the former PM Manmohan Singh essayed by Anupam Kher. In the same year he was seen in critically acclaimed film Section 375. He delivered his biggest hit of the career in 2022 with Ajay Devgn starrer Drishyam 2.
