The Academy Awards will take place at Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. The Academy Awards will be live in India on 13th March.
Usually there is red carpet in all the award shows, but this here in Oscars there won’t be red carpet. Yes you read it right. Since 1961, this is is the first time that there won’t be red carpet in the Oscars. The red color has been replaced by champagne color. There will be champagne colored carpet for the 95th Academy Awards.
The decision to change the color was taken by Lisa Love (a long time Vogue contributor) and Ra I Vila (creative director of Met Gala). When asked about the reason behind this champagne color, Lisa Love said that, “We chose this beautiful sienna, saffron color that evokes the sunset, because this is the sunset before the golden hour.”
Lisa was also asked about the change in tradition and will it affect people and also about the champagne color replacing the red color from now onwards. Here’s what she said, “Somebody’s always got a way to find something wrong with something. This is just a lightness and hopefully people like it. It doesn’t mean that it’s always going to be a champagne colored carpet.”
Jimmy Kimmel, who is hosting the 95th Academy Awards said, “I think the decision to go with a champagne carpet over a red carpet shows how confident we are that no blood will be shed (talking about Will Smith’s incident which happened last year).”
The 95th Academy Awards is special for India for 2 reasons. One being, Naatu Naatu is the 1st Indian Song to get a nomination for Best Original Song. In last 2 decades, RRR is the Indian film since Lagaan to get a nomination at the Oscars. And second, Bollywood Actress Deepika Padukone is going to be award presenter. Before, Deepika it was Priyanka Chopra who was award presenter in 2016.
