Despite a not so good response, Shah Rukh Khan’s starpower and Rajkumar Hirani’s brand value helps Dunki to emerge as the 7th biggest opener of 2023 for Bollywood

2023 has been a very good year for Bollywood. From Pathaan to Animal, Bollywood has witnessed 12 clean hits in this year and a couple of successful films at the Box Office. 

Pathaan started the year with a bang and revived the Bollywood Box Office. Pathaan, Gadar 2 and Jawan were the 3 All Time Grossers which Bollywood witnessed in 2023. 

Shah Rukh Khan has ruled the year 2023 like a king. He became the only Bollywood actor to deliver back to back All Time Grossers, back to back 500 cr films in India and back to back 1000 cr worldwide grossers. 

Shah Rukh Khan’s 3rd release of the year Dunki, directed by Rajkumar Hirani was one of the most awaited films of the year. Dunki turned out to be an average film and did not match the filmmaking level of Rajkumar Hirani. It was nowhere close to previous films of Rajkumar Hirani. 

Though the drama genre doesn’t have much scope at the Box Office unlike the action genre, Dunki has collected decent numbers if not excellent. The brand value of Rajkumar Hirani and SRK’ star power has helped the film to collect 29.20 cr on its opening day. Dunki is the 7th biggest opener of the year.
