Majority of Bollywood films which are directly released on OTT platforms are considered as crap. OTT platforms have been acting like a dustbin, where filmmakers dump their garbage and Apurva is the latest addition to it.
Apurva is a survival thriller where all the actors despite delivering earnest performances are not able to save this poorly made film. Apurva is a survival thriller where the audience will find it very difficult to survive those 90 minutes.
There have been a couple of road survival thriller films in Bollywood like Road (2002), NH10 (2015), etc. Apurva reminds us of Road and NH10, it would not be wrong to say that this film is a mixture of these 2 films. Those who haven’t seen Road and NH10, should watch it before exploring Apurva.
The film ‘Apurva’ is named after the character portrayed by Tara Sutaria. ‘Apurva’ means one of its kind or unique in English. Tara Sutaria who is always seen in glamorous roles has delivered one of its kind performances as Apurva. Tara Sutaria can be proud of her performance, if not the film. The beautiful looking Tara Sutaria has challenged herself by giving a rock-solid performance. The way Tara has transformed herself is praiseworthy. Apurva proves that Tara Sutaria can create wonders with her performance if she gets a content oriented film. Apurva will boost her confidence to pick more and more acting oriented roles in future where she can prove herself.
Rajpal Yadav who makes us laugh will scare us with his performance. We will not be able to believe that Rajpal Yadav can be so dangerous on-screen. Rajpal Yadav’s natural performance will make the audience go crazy over him.
Abhishek Banerjee is a fabulous actor, who with his performance can arouse love as well hatred in our hearts. Abhishek Banerjee’s acting is very convincing. He has been absolutely brilliant throughout the film. It’s a tie between Abhishek Banerjee and Rajpal Yadav. The supporting cast which includes Dhairya Karwa, Sumit Gulati and Aaditya Gupta add a good support.
Apurva is a film which is high on acting but very low on storytelling. A perfect survival thriller should send chills down the spine, but Apurva fails to do so. Apurva follows the same old film-making style where the title is not justified. The makers were not able to crack the formula of making a survival thriller, which is clearly visible on-screen.
The direction is pathetic and very low grade. The director is not able to present the basics right and makes mistakes again and again. If not having flawless or an intellectual writing, a thriller should be convincing enough where one can believe in it.
The writers of Apurva have written a lackluster script which is full of loopholes. There is not a single element of survival thriller in writing. Apurva fails to build the suspense and tension which is a must for a thriller. Apurva also fails to create that atmosphere which is mandatory for every thriller. The characters keep acting dumb most of the time on-screen.
Apart from acting, another best thing about Apurva is its runtime. The duration of the film is just 90 minutes which reduces the amount of headache for the viewer. Despite being a 90 minutes survival thriller, Apurva fails to hold the attention of a viewer. The screenplay lacks the pace and thrilling moments.
Apurva is a survival road thriller which does not know its destination and reaches the wrong address. Apurva is a predictable and stretched show. The film has typical melodrama which hurts the pattern of a thriller.
Overall Apurva does not justify its title and is not unique or different. Apurva is another dull script which wastes the superlative performances delivered by all the actors. Apurva is another garbage from Bollywood which is dumped on OTT. Apurva is a survival thriller where the audience will find it very difficult to survive and get back to their senses. Skip it to save your valuable and precious time.
