Famous Art Director Nitin Desai committed suicide on 2nd August. The news of his death came as a complete shock to the industry.
Nitin had hung himself to the death and reason for his suicide was unknown.
Police had found a recording in which Nitin had blamed Edelweiss ARC finance company for his suicide. He also said that he had mental problems due to the repayment of loans.
The debt on Nitin Desai was of around 252 crores. Nitin Desai borrowed 185 crores through two loans from ECL finance in 2016 and 2018. The repayment troubles started from January 2020.
Now it has been learned that Late Nitin Desai’s wife Neha Desai had registered a FIR on 5 people from Edelweiss company in connection to Nitin Desai’s death.
The FIR has been registered under section 306 (abetment to suicide) and section 34 (common intention) of the IPC.
According to Raigad Police, these 5 people from Edelweiss Company had mentally tortured Nitin for repayment of the loan.
It has been also learned that Nitin has taken 4 names in the recording which was found by the police.
Deputy CM of Maharashtra Shri Devendra Fadnavis also said that he will be probing about the interest rates he was asked to pay. He will also inspect Nitin’s mental condition.
In the recording Nitin requested the Government to manage the ND Studios and said the studio should not be handed over to the finance company.
Nitin Desai was seen saying in the clip that his last rites should be conducted in the studio itself. His funeral took place at Studio No. 10 in ND Studios.
Many family members, politicians, celebrities and well wishers were seen offering their last prayers.
Bollywood Superstar Aamir Khan with whom Nitin had worked in Lagaan was seen offering his prayers to Nitin. Ashutosh Gowariker with whom Nitin had collaborated on multiple projects like Lagaan, Jodhaa Akbar and Panipat was also seen at the last rites.
