Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani fails to beat Ranveer and Alia’s ‘Gully Boy’ and Karan Johar’s ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ on its opening day at the Box Office.

2023 has not been a good year for Bollywood films and the main reason behind it has been poor content. Bollywood films have failed to create good content which can bring audiences to the theaters. 

In 2023, only 3 Bollywood films have emerged as clean hits at the Box Office. SRK starrer Pathaan went on to become an All Time Grosser. It was the 1st Bollywood film to cross 400 cr, 450 cr and 500 cr mark at the Box Office. The Kerala Story became a historic blockbuster. The film was a riot at the box office and became a nationwide sensation. Zara Hatke Zara Bachke emerged as a surprise hit. The film made on a moderate budget got a Super Hit tag.

Karan Johar’s much awaited Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani hit the cinemas yesterday. The film had a good buzz but failed to collect a good total on Day 1. The film had  Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Music, Romance, Comedy, Drama, etc. to register a good hefty total. RRKPK managed to collect only 11.10 cr on its opening day. 

Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani should have easily crossed 15 cr+ on its opening day in the worst scenario. The poor content led to such a low opening. 

Ranveer Singh’s last release Cirkus was also a debacle at the Box Office. It seems like Ranveer will have to wait for some more time to get a clean hit film at the Box Office post pandemic. 

Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani will be Alia’s 1st film post pandemic to not emerge as a clean hit. Her last 2 films Gangubai Kathiawadi and Brahmastra emerged as clean hits at the Box Office.

Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani also failed to beat Gully Boy’s opening day collections.  Gully Boy which was not a commercial entertainer like RRKPK opened to 19.40 cr at the Box Office.

RRKPK also failed to beat Karan Johar’s previous directorial film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil was released during Diwali but faced a clash with Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay at the Box Office. ADHM collected 13.25 cr on its opening day and RRKPK collected 11.10 cr.

The film has a high budget and by looking at the film’s content and opening day collections, it seems difficult for the film to get a clean Hit tag. RRKPK is another Bollywood failure at the Box Office.
